The ACCHS Annual Alumni Banquet will be held on June 2, 2018 in the ACCJ/SHS gymnasium at 6:30 PM. A fellowship hour will be held prior to the banquet from 5:30 to 6:30 PM in the commons.

Tickets will be on sale starting April 1 and ending on May 23rd at:

ENB-Farmers and Merchants Branch in Effingham, KS and Hegarty-Caplinger Insurance office at 112 N 6th, Atchison and 417 Main, Effingham.

 

For those that are out of town you can mail your checks to 417 Main St.; Effingham, KS.  66023 and the tickets will be waiting for you at the door.

 Tickets cost = $10.00

Ticket Sales stop on May 23, 2018. 

The meal count is turned in at that time.

ACCHS 2017 Alumni Banquet Minutes

The annual ACCHS alumni banquet was held Saturday June 3, 2017 in the ACCHS gym. President Covell Hawk welcomed the alumni and guests. Jim Cormode led the group in the invocation.

USD 377 food service staff prepared a smoked pork chop dinner.  The ACCHS SoundMasters served the meal.  One hundred and fifty five meals were served. The Class of 1967 led the alumni in the singing of the Alma Mater with the accompaniment of Mildred Hawk.  The 1967 cheerleaders led everyone in the school cheer circa 1967.

The "State of ACCHS” address was given by High School Principal Deanna Scherer and afterwards introduced the 2017 Centennial Scholarship recipient, Madison Hetherington, who gave the Student Address to the banquet. 

President Hawk recognized Martha Coder from the Class of 1967 who addressed the group with some comments.  Covell then recognized the classes of 1957 and 1947 that were present.  It was determined that Eileen Acheson, Class of 1941, was the oldest alum present.

The hat was circulated for the Soundmasters for their efforts in serving the banquet.

The Minutes of the last annual banquet meeting were read by Adam Potts and approved by a motion.  Adam also gave the treasury report. A motion was made to accept the treasury report, and it passed.

Debbie Parnell, President of the Scholarship Foundation provided an update on the Foundation.

The nomination committee reported nominations of Judy Kramer for vice president and Sharman Heineken as Secretary. Other officers serving for the 2017 year are Greg Miller as president and Adam Potts as Treasurer. A motion was made to accept the report of the committee, and it passed.  The nomination committee for the next year will be outgoing President Covell Hawk and Lisa Merz outgoing Secretary.

It was decided the next banquet would be held on June 2, 2018

A motion was made to adjourn the meeting, it was seconded and passed.

 

ACCHS 2016 Alumni Banquet Minutes

The annual ACCHS alumni banquet was held Saturday June 4, 2016 in the ACCHS gym. President Pat Friend welcomed the alumni and guests.

USD 377 food service staff prepared a wonderful dinner that included smoked pork chop. The ACCHS SoundMasters served the meal.  Everyone participated in the singing of the Alma Mater.  The SoundMasters provided musical entertainment after serving the meal.

The "State of ACCHS” address was given by High School Principal Deanna Scherer.  President Pat Friend introduced the 2016 Centennial Scholarship recipient, Matie Meeks, who gave the Student Address to the banquet. 

President Friend introduced the officers; Vice President Covell Hawk, Secretary Lisa Merz and Treasurer Charles Potts.  The following classes were celebrating their reunions this year: 1947 and 1956.  A member of the class of 1956 spoke.

The minutes of last year's alumni banquet were read by Secretary Lisa Merz. A motion was made to accept the minutes from last year, and it passed. Charles Potts gave the treasury report. A motion was made to accept the treasury report, and it passed.

The nomination committee reported nominations of Greg Miller for vice president and Adam Potts for Treasurer. Other officers serving for the 2016 year are Covell Hawk as president and Lisa Merz as Secretary. A motion was made to accept the report of the committee, and it passed.

ACCHS 2015 Alumni Banquet Minutes

The annual ACCHS alumni banquet was held Saturday June 1, 2015 in the ACCHS gym. President Seth Montgomery (1997) welcomed the alumni and guests and gave the invocation.

USD 377 food service staff prepared a wonderful dinner that included smoked pork chop. The ACCHS SoundMasters served the meal.  Amy (Hawk) Eckert led the singing of the Alma Mater.  The SoundMasters provided musical entertainment after the meal along with a piano duet by Amy (Hawk) Eckert and Ellen (Hawk) Moreland.

The "State of ACCHS” address was given by High School Principal Deanna Scherer.  President Montgomery introduced the 2015 Class President, Kyle Kimmi, who gave the Student Address to the banquet. 

President Montgomery introduced the officers; Vice President Pat Friend (1968), Secretary Corey Neill (1998) and Treasurer Charles Potts (2001).  The following classes were celebrating their reunions this year: 1947, 1950, 1953, and 1960.  Speaking from the class of 1960 was Harold Heidrich from Sacramento, California. The oldest members present were Eileen Acheson from the class of 1941.

Speaking from the class of 1964 was Carl Antes and Phil Vanderwiede, who gave a few remarks. The oldest members present were Eileen Acheson from the class of 1941 and Ed Blocker from the class of 1939.

ACCHS 2013 Alumni Banquet Minutes

The annual ACCHS alumni banquet was held Saturday, June 1, 2013 in the ACCHS gym. President Martha Coder welcomed the alumni and guests. Jacob Hansen, 2013 graduate, gave the invocation.

USD 377 food service staff prepared a wonderful dinner that included chicken casserole, green beans, salad, and strawberry shortcake. The ACCHS science club and some past and present alumni Association officers served the meal. Music for the event was provided by Mildred Hawk playing the piano. A collection was taken up as a tip for the serving organization.

The "State of ACCHS” address was given by Superintendent Stephen Wiseman followed by a few words from 2013 graduate, Jacob Hansen.

President Martha Coder introduced the alumni officers. The following classes were celebrating their reunions this year: 1947, 1948, 1950, 1953, 1954, and 1958. The class of 1963 was celebrating their 50th reunion. Speaking from the class of 1963 was Bonnie "Clinton" Kramer, who gave a few remarks. The oldest members present were Eileen Acheson from the class of 1941 and Ed Blocker from the class of 1939.

The minutes of last year's alumni banquet were read by Secretary Mitch Oswald. A motion was made to accept the minutes from last year, and it passed. Treasurer Bill Hawk gave the treasury report. A motion was made to accept the treasury report, and it passed.

The nomination committee reported nominations of Seth Montgomery for vice president and Cory Neill for secretary. Other officers serving for the 2014 year are Martha Coder as president and Bill Hawk as treasurer. A motion was made to accept the report of the committee, and it passed.

A motion was made by Pres. Martha Coder, which was seconded and passed, to give $500 to the Centennial scholarship foundation and $500 for physical improvements at ACCHS.

ACCHS 2012 ALUMNI BANQUET

          The annual ACCHS Alumni Banquet was held Saturday, June 2nd, 2012 in the ACCHS gym. President Chris Caplinger welcomed the 225 alumni and guests. Seth Montgomery, a past graduate, gave the Invocation.

            USD # 377 Food Service Staff prepared a delicious dinner. The ACCHS Science Club, and some present and past Alumni Association officers served the meal.

            A list of scholarships present this last year by the Foundation was read to the group.

            A collection of $363 was collected as a tip for the organization.

            “The “State of ACCHS” address was given by principal Deanna Scherer followed by a few words from a 2012 graduate, Hannah Corpstein.

            Chris introduced the alumni officers. The following classes were celebrating their reunions this year: 1942, 1947, 1950, 1952, 1954, 1955, 1957 and 1962. The 1962 Class had 44 members present.  Gary Matthias, president of the class gave a few remarks.

The oldest members present were Eileen Acheson from the Class of 1941 and Ed Blocker of the Class of 1939.

            The Nomination Committee reported nominations of Martha Coder for President and Bill Hawk for Treasurer.  Other officers serving for the 2013 year are Nathan Smith as Vice-President and Mitch Oswald as Secretary.  A motion was made to accept the report of the committee and it passed.

            A motion was made by Nancy Keith which was seconded and passed to give $500 to the Centennial Scholarship Foundation and $500 for physical improvements at ACCHS.

            The meeting was adjourned after the singing of the Alma Mater with accompaniment by Mildred Hawk.

ACCHS 2011 ALUMNI BANQUET

     The annual ACCHS Alumni Banquet was held Saturday, June 4th, 2011 in the ACCHS gym. President Chris Caplinger welcomed the 200 alumni and guests. Mildred (Gigstad) Hawk accompanied the group when they sang the Star Spangled Banner and all recited the Pledge of Allegiance. Riley Hundley, 2011 graduate, gave the Invocation.
     USD # 377 Food Service Staff prepared a delicious dinner. The F.F.A. and some present and past Alumni Association officers served the meal. A collection of $420 was given to the F.F.A. activity fund.
     “The State of ACCHS” written by Mark Pruett, principal, was presented by Cindy (Gigstad) Ladd, vice-president, USD #377 Board Education. Some of the items mentioned were the multiple athletic teams that participated in district and state contests. Athletics and extra curricular activities promote pride, sense of achievement, and well rounded students.
     Riley Hundley gave the Student Address. He praised the alumni for their support. Alumni scholarships enable student success in life and show that alumni care.
     Chris introduced the alumni officers. The following classes were celebrating their reunions this year: 1941, 1947, 1950, 1951, 1954, 1961, and 1966. The 1961 Class had 22 members present and the Class of 1951 had 25 present. Oldest members present were Emma (Torkelson) Galbraith from the Class of 1937 and Ed Blocker of the Class of 1939. The Ernzen family had seven members present, the Hawk family thirteen, and Shirley (Juencke) Wilkinson had attended for sixty straight years. Gary Hamon, president of Class of 1961, shared memories of ACCHS and how it shaped his life. 
     Nancy Keith read the minutes of 2010 Alumni Association meeting. Deb (Hawk) Parnell moved and Lucille (Chain) Coder seconded the minutes be approved as read.  
     Carol (Hundley) Eckert gave the treasurer’s report of $4, 671.01 as the current balance. Steve Witte moved and Deb Parnell seconded that the report be accepted.    
     Deb Parnell, president of the ACCHS Alumni Association Scholarship Foundation, reported on the Annual Meeting held earlier in the day. The Foundation has $72, 496.99 in principal, interest, and stock. The interest will be used for awarding scholarships this year. Expenses for 2010-2011 were $62. Deb encouraged applications from ACCHS students for scholarships and for alumni to contribute to the Scholarship Foundation. Nancy Keith moved and Carol Eckert seconded to give $500 to the Scholarship Foundation and $500 for physical improvements at ACCHS.   
     Deb Parnell moved and Lou Ann (Chain) Frost seconded that the first Saturday in June at 6:30 p.m. be automatically designated as the date for the ACCHS Alumni Banquet in future years.
     The Nomination Committee reported nominations of Nathan Smith for Vice-President and Mitch Oswald for Secretary. Other officers for the 2012 year are Chris Caplinger as President and Carol Eckert as Treasurer. Lucille Coder moved and Dorothy (Ernzen) McDermed seconded that the officers be accepted.  
     Nancy Keith moved and Carol Eckert seconded that the meeting be adjourned. The group concluded the evening by singing the ACCHS Alma Mater.

ACCHS 2010 ALUMNI BANQUET

The Annual ACCHS Alumni Banquet was held Saturday, June 5th, 2010 at ACCHS. President Brian Handke welcomed the 355 alumni and guests. He reminded them about the need of sharing their "e-mail" addresses to update graduate data for class records. The Pledge of Allegiance was repeated by all present. Steven Rathert, 2010 graduate, gave the Invocation.

U.S.D. #377 Food Service Staff prepared a delicious dinner. The Soundmasters assisted in serving the meal and then entertained the audience with two musical arrangements. They also led the group in the singing of the ACCHS Alma Mater. A collection of over $500 was given to the Soundmasters.

"The State of ACCHS" was given by Mark Preut, principal. Some of the items mentioned were the successful assimilation of the 7th and 8th grade into ACCHS. Various physical improvements, academic successes, and extra curricular achievements have contributed to an outstanding year. He is looking forward to new classes, students, and staff next year.

Steven Rathert gave the Student Address. He commented about the elusion of the 7th and 8th grade in the ACCHS stuc activities and achievement of the ACCHS students.

Brian introduced the Alumni officers, thanked the cooks and custodians for the excellent meal and table placements, and Steve and Dede Caplinger for many hours of planning and preparation to make this event successful.

The following classes were celebrating their reunions this year: 1941, 1945, 1947, 1948, 1950,1953, 1954,1955, 1956, 1960,1970, and 1982. The reunion with the most members present was the Class of 1960. Hal Hedrick introduced the class's cheerleaders and football players. They led the audience in the ACCHS Alumni Cheer. Jim Cormode gave remarks about the educational preparation provided by ACCHS and about the world the class

had encountered. Nancy McCune presented $432 from the eighty attending members and guests of the 1960 graduating class. Alenna (Hawk) Sanders was the oldest attending alumni from the class of 1933.

Nancy Keith read the minutes of the 2009 Alumni Association Meeting. Shirley Hawk moved and Bill Gilland seconded the minutes be approved as read.

Susan Sprang gave the treasurer's report of $2,858.00 as the current balance. Lonnie Coder moved and Larry Coder seconded the report be accepted.

Deb Parnell ('73), President of the ACCHS Alumni Association Scholarship Foundation, reported on the Annual Meeting held earlier in the day. The Foundation has $66,232.44 in principal, interest, and stock. The interest will be used for awarding scholarships this year. Expenses for 2009 -2010 were $40. Deb encourage applications from ACCHS students for scholarships. It was moved by Leita Coder and seconded by Debbie Kloepper to give $500 to the Foundation and $500 for physical improvements at ACCHS.

Eileen Acheson moved and Dede Caplinger seconded that the 2011 Alumni Banquet be held June 4, 2011 at 6:30 P.M. in the ACCHS Gym.

The Nominating Committee reported nominations of Chris Caplinger for President and Carol Eckert for Treasurer. Other officers for the 2011 year are Chuck Hawk as Vice - President and Nancy Keith as Secretary. Eric Noll moved and Chuck Hawk seconded that the officers be accepted.

Roberta Wagner moved and Shirley Hawk seconded that the meeting be adjourned.

June 6th, 2009  ACCHS ALUMNI BANQUET

291 Alumni, Soundmasters, and cooks met and dined at the ACCHS Gymnasium June 6, 2009 on a Saturday evening to celebrate their common heritage as graduates of ACCHS.  The annual banquet of the Alumni was called to order by Steve Caplinger who was substituting for President Brian Handke.  He was unable to attend due to illness.  Steve welcomed the Alumni with the Pledge of Allegiance.  He introduced Mark Anthony Zeltner a recent graduate who gave the invocation.

The banquet was served by the staff of the high school and served by the Soundmasters musical group.

Steve introduced Principal Mark Pruet.  Mark gave an address concerning the last year at the high school and noted the accomplishments and the challenges. Mark then asked Mark Zeltner to step up and give a message from the class of 2009.  He thanked the alumni for their support of the school and their continued interest in the future.  He commented on how the financial support of Scholarships would be a great help in his or her future education challenges.

Following these orations, Steve gave the roll of classes.  Representatives of the classes of 94, 79, 54, 44, 41, and 39 each addressed the assembly.  The oldest member was Alenna Sanders, Class of 1933. 

During the business segment of the evening Eileen Acheson read the minutes, Susan Sprang gave the report of Treasurer.  Steve gave the Alumni Foundation report.  Jerry Madden presented the names of Chuck Hawk for Vice President and Nancy Keith Secretary. They were elected by acclamation.

A collection was taken as a tip for the Soundmasters.  About $425.00 totaled and given to Amy Eckert their director.

Steve ended the evening with a few comments of appreciation for those that prepared the meals and organized the event and then dismissed the evening.

Door prizes were given.  Many folks lingered and continued the visiting and saying goodbye until next banquet.

ACCHS Alumni Banquet June 7th, 2008

300 Alumni, Soundmasters, and Cooks met and dined at the ACCHS Gymnasium June 7, 2008 on a Saturday evening to celebrate their common heritage as graduates of ACCHS.  The annual banquet of the ACCHS Alumni was held under the leadership of Jerry Madden, President of the Association.  President Madden welcomed the Alums beginning with the Pledge of Allegiance.   He introduced Kaci Ludwig a recent graduate who gave the invocation. 

The banquet was prepared by the staff of the high school and served by the Soundmasters musical group.  

Jerry introduced principal Mark Preut.  Mark gave an address concerning the last year at the high school and noted the accomplishments and the challenges.  Mark then asked Kaci Ludwig to step up and give a message from the class of 2008.  Kaci, a recent graduate, thanked the alumni for their support of the school and their continued interest in its future.  She commented how the financial support of scholarships would be a great help to her in her future educational challenges.  

Following these orations, Jerry gave the roll of classes.  Representatives of the classes of 1941, 1948, 1953, 1958, and 1963 were asked to address the assembly. The oldest member of the Alumni present was introduced.  Helen “Wills” Kemp graduated from the class of 1929.  She is 98 years old. 

During the business segment of the evening Eileen Acheson read the minutes, Elaine Montgomery gave the report of the Treasure.  Debbie Parnell gave a report of the Alumni Foundation and Covell Hawk presented the names of Brian Handke and Susan Sprang for President and Treasurer respectively.  They were elected by acclamation. 

A collection was taken as a tip for the Soundmasters.  About $435.00 was totaled and given to Amy Eckert their director. 

Jerry ended the evening with a few comments of appreciation for those that prepared the meals and organized the event and then dismissed the meeting.  Door prizes were School Houses and flowers.  Many folks lingered and continued the visiting and saying goodbye until next banquet.
